Description: With these pieces I explore the narrative, time based possibilities of photography as well as its ability to suggest spatial environments. My work addresses the interaction of landscape, culture and photography that shapes our collective vision of the present moment. I strive to interfere with this vision by re-defining historically recognized images and narratives within the context of my studio practice. Using a 4x5 view camera I make photographs of dioramas in the Chicago Academy of Sciences Noitebaert Museum, project these images into dioramas that I have constructed in my studio in reaction to the environs of the Museum, and then photograph the result with the 4 x 5 camera. I then display all of the images together as one piece.

Description: My work addresses the interaction of landscape, culture and photography that shapes our collective vision of the present moment. I strive to interfere with this vision by re-defining historically recognized images and narratives within the context of my studio practice. In a series of work begun in 2006, Imperfect Recall, I alter landscape-related images found in museums such as the Art Institute of Chicago, the Pergamon Museum in Berlin and the Chicago Academy of Sciences Notebaert Natural History Museum by introducing them into my own dioramas, which I build in reaction to the environs of the museums from which I have taken the images, and photograph the result.
